Why the right fill cam can make
—or break—tablet quality

In tablet development, we often talk about
formulations, tooling, or compression forces...

But there's one parameter

In tablet development, we often talk about formulations, tooling, or compression forces. But there’s one parameter that quietly decides weight stability long before compression even starts:

The choice of the right fill cam.

With RoTab®, every fill can allows a usable fill depth of its nominal value minus 5 mm.

That means:

An 8 mm fill cam actually covers a fill depth range from 3–8 mm.Sounds straightforward—but this is where many inaccuracies begin.

Here’s the critical detail that’s often overlooked For optimal precision, 2–3 mm of the powder should still be re-dosed under the Optifiller.

Why does this matter?

Re-dosing smooths out fluctuationsIt significantly improves filling accuracyAnd directly leads to better tablet weight consistency

In short: Not using the full mechanical range Leaving room for controlled re-dosing Choosing the right fill cam—not just any fill curve

…can be the difference between acceptable tablets and truly stable ones.

Small millimeters. Big impact.

Curious how much weight variation you could eliminate just by adjusting your fill curve strategy?
